About The Position

The Maintenance & Projects Superintendent works under the direction of the Operations Director and is responsible for leading maintenance personnel and managing capital, infrastructure, and continuous improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. This role provides internal customer support by ensuring maintenance, facilities, and project activities are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in a cost-effective manner. The position oversees facility and equipment reliability, machinery installation and upkeep, preventative maintenance programs, and facility improvement initiatives. The Maintenance & Projects Supervisor partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, Purchasing, contractors, and vendors to improve safety, quality, productivity, capacity, sustainability, and overall plant performance while ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2 + years of maintenance, facilities, or project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working within a corporate manufacturing structure, including cross-functional collaboration, reporting processes, and compliance-driven operations.
  • Experience within paper, converting, pulp & paper, packaging, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions.
  • Must regularly lift, push or pull and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support maintenance staff and contractors in daily operations and project execution.
  • Manage all aspects of maintenance activities for company facilities, including machinery care, equipment installation/un-installation, facility maintenance, and grounds upkeep.
  • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Prioritize maintenance work orders and allocate resources based on operational needs and production schedules.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee cost-effective preventative maintenance programs.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment failures and implementing long-term corrective actions.
  • Develop and support training initiatives for maintenance staff.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and organization within maintenance and tool areas.
  • Support internal quality systems and safety programs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute capital improvement, infrastructure, and facility projects from concept through completion.
  • Monitor project timelines, costs, and overall performance against established objectives.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers to ensure quality workmanship and timely project completion.
  • Coordinate project activities with operations to minimize downtime and production disruptions.
  • Ensure all projects comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and documentation activities for new or modified systems.
  • Oversee and coordinate contract work performed by outside vendors and service providers.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Purchasing teams to support plant objectives and operational improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, project documentation, reports, and compliance records.
  • Manage multiple priorities and shifting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Maintain diplomacy, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling company-sensitive information.

Benefits

  • Pay: $75,000 PLUS based on experience and skills
