About The Position

Performs advanced preventive maintenance (PM) on a variety of production machinery, including CNC machining centers. Performs simple machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned. Works with processes and systems for HAZMAT, OSHA, DEQ, and other regulatory bodies. Requirements

  • 2-3 years of related mechanical/technical work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use measuring equipment including inside/outside micrometers, dial indicators, and heat monitoring guns.
  • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn new computer programs such as CMMS (CribMaster).
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and troubleshoot problems when necessary.
  • Must be able to interpret machine part books.
  • Understanding of tolerance required on production machinery.
  • Ability to fabricate repair parts for production machinery.
  • Must be able to fulfill the minimum qualifications of Maintenance PM Mechanic I.
  • Must either hold HazMat certification or become certified within the first year of employment.
  • All required licensures must be maintained and kept up to date.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise maneuver up to 35 pounds with or without assistance on a routine basis.
  • Must have manual hand dexterity to grasp, operate tools and equipment repetitively.
  • Able to walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, and occasionally kneel, climb steps, and twist throughout an entire shift.
  • Background check and screen for the illegal use of drugs is required.

  • Some areas may be exposed to chemicals, noise, vibration and/or dust, and require the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); such as, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, foot protection, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs more advanced preventive maintenance on production machinery, including CNC machining centers.
  • Provides routine maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, to production areas to meet performance, ergonomic, and safety standards.
  • Inspects machinery and occasionally recommends repair or replacement of components.
  • Works with maintenance leadership and senior mechanics for direction on projects.
  • Checks and adjusts backlash of equipment as part of the preventative maintenance routine.
  • Occasionally performs light machine repair, fabrication, and welding as assigned.
  • Trains and mentors other mechanics on preventative maintenance.
  • Actively engages and participates in the department's continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrates behaviors and attitudes that emphasize and focus on permanent resolutions to problems.
  • Maintains maintenance records in a CMMS (Cribmaster) and orders preventive maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Follows and adheres to all ISO, OSHA, and DEQ requirements.
