About The Position

Fortis Industries, Inc. is hiring for a full-time Maintenance Plumber who will be responsible for ensuring the proper operations of the pools on our Southern California contracts. The Maintenance Plumber assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes, studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required, and sequence of installations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-year experience in Aquatic Management and Pool Operations, or a Facilities Background
  • Certified Pool Operator Certification, In compliance to Local Health Codes
  • Working knowledge of Pool Water Chemistry and salt water chlorinator systems.
  • Basic Knowledge of Swimming Pool Equipment, including installation, troubleshooting, and basic overhaul
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe and locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools, cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine, bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine, or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.
  • Joins pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints, fills pipe system with water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking, installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains, and may weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
  • Daily; weekly and monthly maintenance of the pools and for completing the pool log and checklists.
  • Checks the water Chemistry Levels and insuring they remain at proper levels
  • Troubleshoots mechanical issues and performing minor repairs.
  • Inspects the pools for Health Department Compliance of Operational and Safety concerns.
  • Changing chlorine tanks as required.
  • Ensures that the water is clean and ready for use by removing debris.
  • Cleans the pools using such aids as underwater vacuum cleaner, hose, brush, detergent, acid solution, and sander.
  • Inspects and replace loose or damaged tile.
  • Cleaning and repairing filter systems.
  • Checks equipment and chemical inventories, and any restocking needs
  • Provides necessary information regarding renovation or annual maintenance needs.
  • Systems to be maintained with this position will include but will not be limited to swimming pool maintenance systems and associated components such as piping, pumps, feeding systems, diversion valve actuation maintenance, associated piping and oil water separator inspections and associated pipe maintenance on the OWS system.
  • Maintenance Plumber will report emergencies or unusual malfunctions to superior and prepare reports of materials used and work performed.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as contractual needs change.
