About The Position

The role of the Maintenance Planner is to implement, and or maintain and continuously improve the Maintenance Work Planning and Scheduling for their department, and to provide a continuity link to other maintenance systems. The Maintenance planner/scheduler will coordinate all preventative maintenance scheduling and execution systems, working closely with the bakery maintenance team and 3rd party contractors.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Planner is an asset
  • Post-Secondary education from an accredited institution
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and other relevant food safety and environment regulations
  • Experience working in a computerized preventative maintenance program (CMMS). Basic PC Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. (oral & written)
  • Strong Organizational and Technical Skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Courage to not compromise preventative maintenance repairs despite production pressures
  • Shop skills
  • Autonomous and Preventive Maintenance Skills
  • EAM Infor Maintenance (if and M&S SAP site) and storeroom skills

Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scheduling: Review and prioritize notifications within 24 hours of generation. Ensure the work order backlog is current, sorted for reporting and is managed to best meet the bakery goals. Review PM requirements and generate weekly work orders. Use the maintenance information system to drive priorities. Maintenance work is planned using standards and a job plan archive is maintained. Lead the review of the previous job completion results, other maintenance activities and today’s plan in the Daily Meeting. Plans should be adjusted accordingly based upon scheduled work, scheduled work completion and break in work. Lead the scheduling of maintenance work for the next week during the Weekly Planning Meeting. Lead the weekly scheduling meeting for the next shutdown (Priorities, Capital work, outside contractors, etc.). Lead the scheduling of maintenance work in The Monthly Meeting to schedule maintenance work for the next month as dictated by the annual maintenance plan and previously identified work. Ensure the revision and updating of “Maintenance Technical Documentation” occurs as necessary. Develop and update annual maintenance plan. Planning comprises all the functions related to the preparation of: The work order, Bill of material, Purchase requisition, Necessary drawings, Labor planning sheet including standard times, any additional data or special tools needed prior to scheduling and releasing the work order.
  • Production / Delivery: Ensure Work Orders are able to be completed safely by maintenance team or contractors. Assess if contractor skill is needed to complete work orders. Ensure outside contractors are following all bakery and corporate policies. Assign Planned maintenance work orders to mechanics or contractors and generate any needed POs for contractor unplanned maintenance. Update, Review and close work orders for site mechanics and contractors. Arrange follow up to work orders and generate any needed follow ups in the maintenance planning system. Respond to the needs of a multi-shift operation, including weekends. If heat stress is applicable to the facility, i.e. not air conditioned, ensure the measuring unit is calibrated prior to May.
  • Track and Report: Ensure maintenance indicator results & in process measures are tracked and kept current and at a minimum. Activities or the lack there of, which drive maintenance indicator results in the wrong direction are corrected or brought to the attention of the appropriate resource. Results of maintenance indicators and in process measures are used to assess the progress of The Maintenance Planning & Scheduling System and to determine equipment reliability. Results are shared with the department leadership in the monthly meeting. Implement effective scheduling to ensure there is maximization and efficient use of work time, material, and equipment wrench time goal is 65%. The aim is to have over 90% of the maintenance work planned and scheduled.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improvements are identified through the tracking of Maintenance Indicators and In Process Measures. Losses are identified and “Improvement Themes” developed to eliminate losses. Improvement Theme action plans are owned, developed, and tracked by the maintenance planner. Ensures all equipment design change proposals (corrective maintenance), Add/Delete/Modify work follows the Change Management Procedures. All work executed is critiqued and work plans updated or revised as necessary. Build and own Maintenance Technical Documentation and equipment drawings and schematics are complete, accurate, easy to find and easy to use. An intimate relationship exists or is developed with the store room in order to identify obsolete parts, off quality parts, ideal in stock numbers, required delivery time of parts, etc. Updates to engineering drawings and standards are fed back to owner. Establish a clear link to Engineering Drawing Control and a Maintenance Technical Documentation Owner.
  • Other Duties: Assist in the coordination of Health & Safety Program; Maintains a safe and secure work environment for all employees; Participates in project work as required; Ability to cover shift schedules for vacation, illness, and training; and work shifts to cover maintenance staff vacations. Provides supervisory support to the Maintenance supervisor and develops as the next in line for succession planning.
