About The Position

This position is responsible for advising and coordinating with representatives to assist in solving problems concerning the assigned area. The role involves preparing reports and maintaining records of maintenance/tooling planning activities, establishing a working knowledge of the work scheduling process, and assisting in developing written specifications for material procurement. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will coordinate the acquisition of materials/tooling, make necessary schedule changes, and manage the flow of work. This role also includes reviewing the development of scheduling systems, coordinating with representatives on scheduling changes, and potentially conducting self-assessments and verifying safety-related information. The position requires coordinating planning to ensure quality, safety, and production requirements are met, as well as coordinating assigned activities with other Plant supervisors to ensure optimum use of manpower, tools, and equipment. The individual will be accountable for direct output and providing support to their manager, maintaining knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate, and Plant rules and policies. Recommendations for operating procedures, systems, policies, and controls are expected, along with conducting inspections and evaluations to prepare work planning documents. A working knowledge of the computerized maintenance management system and researching new techniques to recommend scheduling changes are also key aspects. The role involves developing and coordinating the review and approval of work and tooling documents, and performing other duties as assigned. Participation in worker involvement, understanding the right to stop work for safety concerns, and attending safety meetings are also required.

  • This position requires a working knowledge and ability to plan and schedule work within the area of responsibility.
  • This position may require the ability to plan, review, communicate, and modify maintenance/tooling work documents and assist in establishing priorities to ensure schedules are met.
  • This position requires the ability to coordinate the movement of products, materials, tools, and/or services to ensure schedules are met.
  • This position requires proficiency in word processing and database applications including Planning software.
  • All qualifications, work history, training, education and ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation.
  • Must have a minimum of six (6) years of electrically qualified craft experience in maintenance or construction with job related planning experience.
  • Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
  • Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP, a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official, and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position.
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Advises and coordinates with representatives to assist in solving problems concerning area assigned.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records of maintenance/tooling planning activities.
  • Establishes a working knowledge of the work scheduling process.
  • Assists in developing written specifications for the procurement of materials at the required quality level.
  • Assists in coordinating the acquisition of materials/tooling, makes required changes in applicable schedules, and coordinates the flow of work involving area assigned.
  • Reviews the development of scheduling systems to control the status of work and preparation of reports showing the current status of assigned programs.
  • Contacts representatives relative to scheduling changes made and ensures necessary flow of materials, tooling, products, and/or services.
  • Conducts various self-assessments pertaining to area of responsibility and other related areas.
  • Verifies various safety related information regarding the preparation and conduct of maintenance/tooling activities.
  • Coordinates planning of work to ensure quality, safety, and production requirements are satisfied.
  • Coordinates assigned activities with other Plant supervisors as appropriate for the accomplishment of assigned activities in accordance with directive schedules, controls load factors, and flow of work to ensure optimum use of manpower, tools and equipment, and reporting of discrepancies.
  • Accountable for all direct output assigned and for providing direct output support to his/her manager.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate and Plant rules, regulations and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures.
  • Recommends, prepares, and maintains operating procedures, systems, policies, and controls pertaining to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Conducts inspections and evaluations of structures, systems, and components to prepare work planning documents.
  • Maintains working knowledge of the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Researches new techniques and recommends changes in scheduling based on a comprehensive knowledge of Plant control methods, programming and scheduling procedures.
  • Develops and coordinates the review and approval of work documents following applicable procedures and guides.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the applicable scheduling process.
  • Develops and coordinates the review and approval of tooling work documents following applicable procedures and guides.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attends and/or successfully completes training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management.
  • Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls.
  • Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized.
  • Attends all required safety meetings and training.
  • Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment.
