About The Position

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, this position is responsible for ordering parts, components, materials, supplies as well as maintaining inventories in support of machine maintenance practices and plant equipment operations. And is responsible for demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in inventory control, purchasing clerk or similar experience preferred.
  • Requires on-the-job training to be able to perform and execute essential duties and responsibilities assigned.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communications, mathematical and problem-solving skills with special attention to details.
  • Possess a high sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of obtaining information or clarifying details.
  • Performs such within well-established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
  • Ability to operate forklift and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive and design data, and information.
  • Requires ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
  • Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often characterized by frequent change.
  • The ability to establish and maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Requires a valid California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Locates and provides parts and components to maintenance or production personnel; provides information of parts availability or estimated delivery schedules.
  • Performs receiving duties, to include verification of items received, vendor billing and proper storage according to shop procedures and standards.
  • Orders parts as required, and performs tracking activities, i.e., following up on status of back-order items, contacting vendors.
  • Maintains updated parts and components ordering catalogs; operates department automated inventory ordering and tracking system.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in storage areas.
  • Ability to use a forklift to move and relocate parts as needed within the plant.
  • Issues supplies, parts and equipment, as needed, to maintenance or production personnel.
  • Ensures that inventory on-hand balances are maintained.
  • Prepares and forwards or files documentation and paperwork associated with assigned duties, i.e., purchase orders, parts requests, work orders, receivers, and packing lists.
  • May retrieve and deliver parts or vendor supplies when items are out of stock.
  • Performs routine parts, components, materials, and supplies inventories according to established schedules or as directed by supervisor.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with vendors, maintenance or production personnel and other related administration personnel, i.e., supervisor, purchasing staff, or plant manager.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
