About The Position

The Maintenance Painter is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities related to maintaining painted surfaces and/or surfaces with wall coverings within all areas of Billings Clinic. Responsibilities include preparing surfaces, mixing paint and painting, preparing and/or hanging wall coverings, and other routine maintenance/repair activities such as replacing light bulbs, trim boards, and hanging signage.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • 2 years of progressively more responsible related work experience in order to gain knowledge of painting and wall covering equipment, products and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces for painting and/or wallpaper using water, solvent, sandpaper and/or scrapers and repairs scratches, chips, and/or other needed repairs.
  • Hangs sheet rock, perfatapes and performs drywall texturing.
  • Compares color of paint and/or wallpaper samples to ensure a quality match with existing products and to ensure adherence with current Billings Clinic standards and corporate identities.
  • Mixes and/or prepares custom paint colors.
  • Brushes and/or sprays prepared surfaces with paint, lacquer, and/or stain to cover scratches, chips and/or surface repairs.
  • Maintains all painting and wallpapering equipment and ensures adequate inventory of supplies is maintained to meet business needs.
  • Performs minor and/or routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing trim boards, hanging signage, installing and maintaining wall protection systems.
  • Keeps Director of Facility Services informed of work in progress, completion status, and/or problems that may arise.
  • Assists in identifying areas requiring improvements and in planning major projects.
  • Coordinates repairs/activities with departmental Manager and/or Supervisor in advance of projects being initiated.
  • Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
  • Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance.
  • Member of STAT team, emergency response team and disaster team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
