About The Position

The Maintenance Millwright maintains mill and yard equipment in proper working order and completes preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner to help the facility meet or exceed company efficiency standards. Daily activities may change according to the mill’s needs, so scheduled hours must be flexible. The position may also involve operating equipment as needed. The role includes maintenance, troubleshooting, welding and fabrication, equipment installation and adjustment, preventive maintenance planning, purchasing support, and travel to facility locations as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
• At least 5 years of relevant maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Work longer hours on short notice.
• Communicate with the purchaser and Sawmill Manager to support cost-effective purchasing and inventory control across the facility.
• Initiate purchasing of consumable parts in coordination with the PM Parts Purchaser.
• Work with the PM Parts Purchaser and Sawmill Manager to develop maintainable preventive maintenance programs for sawmill machinery, waste and dust collection systems, outside yard equipment, compressors, and building needs.
• Follow the preventive maintenance program instructions and complete PM work orders as required.
• Complete training to perform HOT WORK Permits.
• Use cutting torches.
• Weld and fabricate using MIG and stick welding.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
• Troubleshoot, replace, and repair defective parts.
• Adjust clearances and align parts.
• Learn to operate all sawmill equipment efficiently.
• Analyze information and evaluate options to select solutions to problems.
• Travel to all locations as needed.
• Work a minimum of 20% off production hours each week, when the facility is not running.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
