About The Position

The Maintenance Millwright Journeyman will be responsible for inspecting, isolating, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical malfunctions and equipment. This role involves maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, testing mechanical equipment for safety and efficiency, and fabricating mechanical parts. The position also includes participating in the maintenance and operation of mechanical tools and equipment used by the operation. The role requires troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems such as motors, controls, and scales, and monitoring work for adherence to legislated requirements. Additionally, the Millwright will assist in writing specifications for repairs and new construction, maintain service and repair records, and respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. Following blueprints to determine equipment location and ensure compliance with building and safety codes is also a key responsibility. Any other duties as assigned by management will be part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalency
  • Department of Labour certificate for a Licensed Industrial Mechanical Millwright
  • Minimum 4 years or 8000 hours of on-the-job millwright maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated competency in preventative, predictive, basic care practices, and computerized maintenance management systems
  • Strong leadership and Total Productive Maintenance experience
  • Prior experience demonstrating effective leadership skills
  • Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma training is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical malfunctions and equipment using various test instruments; maintain and repair mechanical systems; test mechanical equipment for safety and efficiency; fabricate mechanical parts; participates in the maintenance and operation of mechanical tools and equipment used by the operation
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical systems including motors, controls, scales, and other equipment Test & monitor mechanical systems, equipment, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Ensures the proper function of mechanical safety devices
  • Installs, troubleshoots and repairs new equipment and systems
  • Monitors’ work done for adherence to legislated requirements
  • Assists in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction
  • Maintains appropriate service and repair records
  • Analyze and respond safely and appropriately to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service
  • Follows blueprints to determine the location of equipment and to conform to the building and safety codes
  • Any other duties as assigned by management
