About The Position

Weyerhaeuser’s Wood Products manufacturing facility in Plymouth, NC is seeking experienced individuals to join its Industrial Maintenance team. The successful candidate will have prior industrial experience, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to invest time and energy in training, including self-study outside of work, to develop the skills and knowledge needed for an industrial maintenance mechanic role.

The position includes self-study and on-the-job training to perform skilled mechanical maintenance, including installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and conveyors. During equipment downtime, the employee analyzes breakdown causes and performs the repairs needed to restore effective operation. Other work includes lubricating and cleaning parts, maintenance planning, laying out work, welding, and metal fabrication as required. The employee must follow lockout procedures and plant safety rules and maintain excellent housekeeping practices.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• At least one year of industrial maintenance experience, or equivalent education that includes a vocational or technical school certificate.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and precision measuring and test instruments.
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveyor systems.
• Strong root cause analysis skills and skills across mechanical maintenance.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
• Willingness to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
• Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work in extreme heat and cold.
• Willingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills.
• Willingness to work in Plymouth, NC without relocation assistance.
• Successful completion of pre-employment computer-based testing, a background check, and a drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Participate in self-study and on-the-job training to develop industrial maintenance skills.
• Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, including motors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and conveyors.
• Analyze equipment breakdowns and determine and carry out repairs to restore effective operating conditions.
• Lubricate and clean parts.
• Perform maintenance planning and lay out work.
• Perform welding and metal fabrication as required.

• Follow unit electrical and maintenance practices.
