The Maintenance mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting equipment, identifying the cause of the problem and safely and effectively performing the repair. Interaction with operations engineers and production operators, fellow skilled trade employees, outside vendors, various levels of plant management is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Take responsibility for own safety and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated success working with teams and contributing to overall team success.
  • Ability to work with tools of the trade.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (P&lD's)
  • Respond to off-shift emergencies as required; participate in rotating on call system.
  • Ability to work at heights on ladders, lifts and scaffolds.
  • Ability to work in awkward positions on or around industrial equipment.
  • Ability to lift as much as 70 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
  • Ability to operate lifts, lift trucks, portable or fixed cranes
  • Ability and willingness to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to perform tasks regarding confined space entry as required

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Mechanic.
  • Millwright or Machine Repair Status
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite
  • Experience with SAP (PM Module)
  • Maintenance, Military or Industrial Construction Industry certifications
  • Chemical Plant Operations knowledge

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties with a Safety First mindset by observing all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) procedures.
  • Support all areas of chemical manufacturing plant with repair of mechanical/rotating equipment, including centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, mechanical seals, gearboxes, fans, blowers, mixers, compressors, extruders, etc.
  • Provide knowledgeable and accurate troubleshooting expertise for mechanical problems.
  • Perform installations of new piping and equipment, as well as repair of existing systems.
  • Perform required Preventative Maintenance and Mechanical Integrity Inspections of mechanical equipment, piping and systems.
  • Work with Reliability Engineering to keep required documentation for PSM, Mechanical Integrity and CMMS system updated.
  • Fit and assemble machinery parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics (including metric measurements).
  • Precisely align rotating equipment.
  • Possess aptitude and desire to be cross trained in other mechanical trade skills and practices.
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping at the job site as well as the maintenance shop.
  • Develop specification from general description and draw sketch of part to be fabricated.
  • Assist with other jobs in the maintenance department as assigned by supervision.
  • Work overtime as needed on the off shift and weekends.
