About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.). This role is responsible for identifying root causes of breakdowns, performing repairs efficiently to minimize downtime, and documenting all work performed. The position also involves maintaining shop areas, coordinating with managers for scheduled maintenance, and collaborating with department heads on modifications for new products. Additionally, the role requires identifying and implementing improvements, adhering to safety protocols, and performing other relevant duties as assigned. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies in functional/technical skills, action-oriented problem-solving, learning on the fly, and interpersonal savvy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment.
  • Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program.
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail.
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred.
  • Multi-lingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts as necessary to ensure machines are in optimal working condition.
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Make necessary modifications and implement test runs; confer with product manager regarding test results and make additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead, or participate in solution implementation.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory, helping to promote a zero-accident culture.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
