About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks within an industrial manufacturing setting. This includes diagnosing and repairing machinery, performing plumbing and heating work, welding, maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and undertaking carpentry and painting tasks. The role also involves general building maintenance, upkeep of equipment, and managing inventory of parts and supplies. The position requires the ability to work from blueprints and instructions, maintain equipment through lubrication and cleaning, and keep accurate records. Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic may assist other departments and train or direct less experienced personnel.

Requirements

• Minimum of four (4) years' experience in all skills directly related to industrial manufacturing maintenance.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose trouble, repair, install, and set up machines, including millwright work.
• Repair and install various types of piping, replace thermocouples, light gas burners, and replace gas valves.
• Perform welding (arc, gas, submerged arc), brazing, and cutting.
• Repair, install, and diagnose trouble with hydraulic equipment.
• Complete rough and finish carpentry from blueprints, sketches, or instructions.
• Perform painting according to specifications.
• Maintain pneumatic/air logic systems.
• Perform general building maintenance and inclement weather upkeep.
• Operate equipment such as lathes, saws, drill presses, and other maintenance tools.
• Fill propane gas tanks.
• Adjust and repair roller dies.
• Read and perform work from prints, sketches, and/or instructions.
• Grease and oil all equipment and machinery, excluding electric motors.
• Replace bad grease fittings and wipe excess grease from equipment.
• Clean and replace all air filters on production machinery.
• Report defective equipment and shortages of lubrication materials to supervision.
• Maintain chemicals for die cooling water systems.
• Perform rebuilding and repair bench-work on items like hand staplers, conveyor belts, soap agitators, and pillow blocks.
• Keep the oil storage room neat and clean.
• Keep supervision informed of defective equipment.
• Keep work areas clean.
• Return tools and parts to designated areas.
• Complete forms and reports as directed.
• Issue parts and supplies to company personnel.
• Maintain inventories and records of stock levels using a computer terminal.
• Fill out replacement or new order request forms using part numbers, manuals, or prints.
• Inventory received items and check material.
• Check parts received against open order file and update inventory.
• Prepare motor parts/pieces for shipment.
• Pick up and deliver materials as required.
• Maintain records related to trips.
• Receive used dies from production, wash, inspect, and sort them by wear and damage.
• Determine the next size die and machine to prescribed specifications.
• Discard scrap dies.
• Maintain a supply of finished dies for distribution.
• Maintain accuracy of micrometers and mark die sizes.
• Maintain records related to dies.
• Notify supervisor of material or die flow shortages.
• Assist Company Machinist and Electricians when needed.
• Help train and/or direct the work of Machine Repairmen and Helpers.
