About The Position

Sierra Lobo offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center. The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the MASR supervisor (Mech, Rigg, CMEC, Millwright shop). All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Six years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade program.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required for this specific position.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
  • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring your personal safety, the safety of coworkers and customers is an obligation and primary duty.
  • Supports the Maintenance Services Group repairing machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, examination of machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose anomalies
  • Dismantling machines, as required to diagnose and repair, or adjust, will involve the use of hand tools
  • Preparing written specifications for major repairs, repair parts, or for production of required items
  • Acquisition of replacement parts from OEM, or OEM approved entity, or manufacturer in machine shop to which specifications have been provided
  • Reassembling machines and adjusting as required to ensure proper operation
  • Mechanical requirements at LaRC largely involve reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and compressors
