Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic math skills
  • 1-3 years of industrial maintenance experience required
  • Flexibility to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Ability to work from 6pm to 6am, Monday thru Friday and an occasional Saturday
  • Desire to learn
  • Welding skills
  • Fabricating skills
  • Industrial Electrical & Maintenance skills
  • Basic computer operator skills

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks necessary to keep plant property, equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition.
  • Diagnosing problems and performing general maintenance, overhaul, and repair of plant equipment, processes, and facilities.
  • Performing basic electronics and electrical repairs as needed.
  • Planning and scheduling plant and equipment maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production.
  • Performing major mechanical repairs, installation, and/or electrical repairs, potentially with outside vendor assistance.
  • Dismantling, repairing, lubricating, and reassembling equipment.
  • Implementing and maintaining the division’s preventive maintenance program.
  • Training and instructing employees on preventive maintenance activities and procedures.
  • Inspecting, adjusting, cleaning, and lubricating equipment as part of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Maintaining and controlling plant inventory levels for maintenance parts and supplies.
  • Ordering parts and supplies in accordance with supervisor approval.
  • Training lesser-skilled maintenance personnel on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Maintaining plant equipment and maintenance records to meet Gerdau and OSHA’s safety and quality compliance standards.
  • Diagnosing causes of malfunctions and determining corrective action.
  • Tearing down, replacing, repairing, installing, and assembling equipment, parts, components, and accessories.
  • Developing and fabricating accessory fixtures or guards for machines and equipment.
  • Adjusting machine mechanisms such as feed, speed, power input or output.
  • Directing and/or coordinating production employees involved in maintenance repairs.
  • Machining (turning, milling, grinding, drilling) parts for use in maintenance and production.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
