About The Position

Complete Building Services (CBS), a division of The Donohoe Companies, Inc., is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a large facility (1,000,000 sq. ft.) in Washington, DC. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings, requiring practical skills and knowledge in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. This role involves supporting the Facilities Maintenance Team and ensuring the smooth operation of building systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a government background check.
  • Three (3) years of experience within the past five (5) years as a Maintenance Mechanic in a building of similar size.
  • Completed vocational and technical training in HVAC Mechanic maintenance and service work.
  • Ability to identify common causes of building system failures.
  • Ability to conduct routine testing procedures.
  • Ability to meet project assignments on time.
  • Ability to work on several assignments simultaneously and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of building systems.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance, tours, and preventative maintenance (PMs).
  • Perform maintenance and repairs requiring practical skills and knowledge, including replacing lamps and ballasts.
  • Change air filters and perform general maintenance on HVAC systems, including replacing motors and belts.
  • Perform bearing replacements.
  • Possess basic operational knowledge of equipment such as generators, UPS, ATS, BAS, overhead doors, and fire alarm security barriers.
  • Follow defined methods of procedures in compliance with building operating guidelines.
  • Repair and maintain electrical systems, including replacing receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings using plaster or compound.
  • Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Perform painting of structures and equipment.
  • Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hang doors and install door locks.
  • Replace broken window panes.
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be flexible and able to work varying shifts, including M-F 7:30-4:00 PM, M, TH, Fri - 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Sat-Sun 11:30 AM-8:00 PM, as required.
  • Be available for fill-in coverage.
