Requirements

High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Previous experience as a mechanic in an industrial environment is required.
Possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
Have, or able to obtain, forklift license.
Ability to read and interpret documents including, but not limited to, safety rules, policies, procedures, quality specifications, and written reports or correspondence.
Ability to read and understand equipment diagrams, manuals and specifications.
Ability to write routine reports, record data, and generate correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively with others inside, and outside, the Maintenance Department.
Ability to use a computer and utilize standardized software programs.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide to calculate figures and amounts for proportions, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to work with, and understand, standard and metric measurements.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in a standardized situation.
Must be able to stand in a designated area for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis with no assistance and heavier weights with assistance.
Must be able to occasionally lift 30 pounds above shoulder height.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, and crouch.
Must be able to reach above, at, below, and to the side, while twisting body and twisting at waist.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders on a regular basis.
Must be able to pull non-powered pallet jacks while loaded with up to 1000 lbs of material.
Must be able to work on platforms at various heights.
Must be able to grip small pieces/parts.
Must be able to twist hands at wrist while gripping and/or carrying items.
Must be able to work in elevated positions of over 25 feet.
Must have close vision, peripheral vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Must have sufficient hearing to be aware of sirens and horns which alert people to danger.
Must wear PPE, follow GMP's, be trained in knife safety.

Previous forklift and scissor lift driving experience helpful.

Responsibilities

Works safely and applies safe practices at all times.
Use proper safety devices in a correct manner, and utilize safety techniques when working in and around equipment and/or working in non-production areas.
Accurately diagnose and solve mechanical problems as they arise.
Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Troubleshoot and repair pumps.
Weld a variety of different materials using various types of welding equipment.
Assemble, troubleshoot, and repair all equipment.
Use and accurately read precision measuring equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
Accurately complete all work order and record/document work performed.
Work/coordinate with and through others to accomplish required tasks.
Layout a Bill of Material for any job.
Immediately respond to situations as they arise within the facility.
Install tooling accurately and completely.
Apply knowledge to improve the mechanical procedures within set standards.
Adhere to and complies too all General Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
