About The Position

Canada Brick, a subsidiary of General Shale Brick, North America’s largest manufacturer of clay brick and masonry materials, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Burlington, Ontario manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who thrives in an industrial production environment and is committed to safety, teamwork, and equipment reliability.

Requirements

Good communication skills.
Proven record of teamwork & leadership skills.
Thorough knowledge of all types of mechanical conveying systems.
Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
5-10 years’ experience in an industrial environment.
Basic knowledge of Electrical, Pipefitting, Welding and Plumbing skills.
Knowledge of P.L.C.’s.
Ability to work safely on their own and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Ensure that all necessary repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance work requests are carried out on assigned 12-hour rotating shifts.
Report to and take direct orders from the Maintenance Foreman and Maintenance Lead hand. When unsupervised, fulfill written work orders and respond promptly to priority work requests from Production Foremen, Lead hands and Kiln firemen.
Assist other members of the Maintenance Department to implement a rigorous preventative maintenance program as well as a predictive maintenance program to minimize the plant’s downtime.
Establish and maintain a productive relationship with all members of the shift, including Production Foremen, Operators and Material Handlers.
Perform all types of mechanical and minor electrical repairs to ensure production requirements are met.
Participate in the Company’s health & safety, housekeeping and environmental programs.
Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveying systems.
Improve the durability of machinery and efficiency of the process.
Document on a “Shift Logbook/report” a written shift report for 12-hour shifts, including times, breakdowns, parts used, and the status of ongoing repairs or problems.
Tag any parts removed or replaced for repair “in house” or contracted out, and make the Lead Hand Mechanic aware of these repairs in writing.
Provide own hand tools to complete any repairs while on shift.
