About The Position

Darigold is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to be a part of Darigold’s Portland Plant team. The Maintenance Mechanic must possess the desire and ability to maintain and repair all plant equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic’s role is to ensure successful maintenance and repair of plant machinery and supporting special projects within the plant. This role is represented by a bargaining agreement, which will require union membership. We offer our employees a team-oriented work environment, competitive salary, and an excellent benefit package. Must be willing to work any shift. $40.27 per hour plus differential pay when applicable.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with MS Office suite and applications, ability to utilize electronic communication effectively.
  • Experience troubleshooting: PLC’s, controls instrumentation (limited).
  • Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Formal education in a related field – prefer Associates degree in mechanical, electrical or engineering a plus.
  • Must be willing to work any shift.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. routinely / frequently and be able to sit, stand climb or walk for 8 hours.
  • Strong team/verbal/written skills are required. Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
  • Able to work in a loud environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education in a related field – prefer Associates degree in mechanical, electrical or engineering a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and test new and existing production machinery and equipment; understand and comply with workplace safety regulations.
  • Monitor, identify and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery.
  • Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
  • Understanding and experience in preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness; create and maintain a schedule for inspection, service, and testing of machinery.
  • Usage of a CMMS to schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment.
  • Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. routinely / frequently and be able to sit, stand climb or walk for 8 hours.

  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • This position is responsible for following all Food Safety and Quality requirements as outlined in Darigold’s Good Manufacturing Policy, in conformance with the position’s Standard Operating Procedures, and in accordance with facility training sessions and materials. The position is also required to report any concerns that may impact Food Safety or Quality to their immediate supervisor, the Plant Quality Manager or the Plant Manager.
