The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing machinery and facility equipment. This role involves making repairs to machines, jigs, fixtures, and gauges, and fabricating or fitting replacement parts as needed. The mechanic will perform electrical, plumbing, heating, and roofing repairs, and must be able to read schematics and electronic blueprints. Additionally, the role requires servicing and operating rectifiers, using precision hand tools and electronic equipment, and setting up and operating various machinery such as lathes, milling machines, and welders. Preventive maintenance, including lubrication, is a key part of the job, as is carpentry and sheet metal work for fabricating and repairing various items. The St. Joseph, Missouri Dry Assembly Plant (DAP), opened in 1973, employs over 860 people and manufactures automotive and marine batteries, contributing significantly to Clarios’ global supply chain.
