About The Position

Wellstar is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. This role involves a variety of tasks including repairs to pumps, motors, lighting, carpentry, doors, sheetrock, and plumbing. The position also includes performing preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and systems, completing apprentice to journeyman's work, and ensuring all repairs and maintenance are completed in a timely and documented manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical repair skills, basic electrical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems within a healthcare environment.

Requirements

High School Diploma General or GED General
GADL - Georgia Driver's License
Minimum 3 years experience in general mechanical maintenance and repairs.
Basic knowledge in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, some TV, some nurse call, some tube system, medical air, automatic and manual doors.
Good mechanical repair skills and light electrical skills.
Verifiable experience in trouble shooting and repair of pumps, motors, pneumatic control air systems, light to medium plumbing repairs, commercial door repair and installation and automatic door operator repairs.
Knowledge in light carpentry and sheet rock work and repairs.
Working knowledge of use of power tools, hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to read and follow blue prints.
Basic understanding of NFPA and Life Safety Codes applicable in a health care environment.
Computer literate.

Responsibilities

Responds to telephoned service requests and detailed project work orders.
Identifies the complexity of work, necessary tools, and spare parts required for repairs.
Prepares purchase requisitions for spare parts and materials.
Makes all requested repairs in a timely fashion and turns in completed documentation.
Assists in maintaining on-hand critical spare parts and materials by conducting periodic inventory and requisitioning replacements.
Performs rekeying of locks, repairing and unlocking automatic and manual doors, and repairing and/or building locks, knobs, and handles.
Receives and assesses preventative maintenance work requests, scheduling repairs as needed.
Conducts preventative maintenance as specified in work requests.
Notes and reports any deficiencies outside the norm to the Coordinator.
Follows up on repair efforts of noted deficiencies to ensure closure of relevant documents.
Turns in completed PM documentation on the date the work is completed.
Assists others in preventative maintenance efforts as required.
Conducts monthly tours of assigned work zones and notes all required repairs.
Conducts inspections of above the ceiling fire and smoke walls to ensure penetrations are sealed.
Notifies Coordinator of required repairs in writing.
Performs other duties as assigned by Coordinator.
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
