About The Position

One who is capable of and responsible for installation and repair of production, packing, or materials handling equipment or plant facilities. Has a high degree of training and skill in one or more phases of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, operation of equipment, or parts fabrication in a general machine shop. This is a union role with the pay rate of $33 an hour.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical certification or relevant vocational training in mechanical maintenance.
  • Electrical experience required: to read and understand electrical wiring diagrams, wiring and troubleshooting 220-480 volts 3 phase motors, DC motors, electrical panels, variable frequency drives and manual machine interfaces.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues effectively.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision instruments.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems relevant to manufacturing machinery.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and report maintenance activities.
  • Able to team lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist throughout duration of shift.

Nice To Haves

  • State of California certification is helpful.
  • Familiarity with candy manufacturing machinery, conveyors, and equipment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on candy production machinery, conveyors, and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and manual techniques and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and engage with system.
  • Lubricate, clean, and adjust components to maintain proper functionality and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies to troubleshoot and conduct on-the-spot repairs, aiming to minimize production disruptions.
  • Order and replace damaged or faulty parts as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts replacements.
  • Document procedures, checklists, and maintenance logs to ensure effective communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Record or document the results of the measurement on the appropriate forms.
  • Perform escalation to management if actions are unable to achieve specification.
  • Perform checks and measurements and make adjustments to achieve the quality targets.
  • Perform maintenance tasks in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
