About The Position

Skillforce is hiring an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for a food manufacturer/processor client in Richmond, VA. This is 2nd shift, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, paying $28–$31/hour depending on experience. Primary responsibilities are the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of production, packaging, and facility equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills, is comfortable working around sanitation/washdown areas and GMP requirements, and prioritizes food safety, quality, and equipment uptime.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, installation, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, following technical manuals and schematics
  • Diagnose issues by observing machine operation, listening for abnormal sounds, and using testing tools to identify root causes
  • Dismantle equipment to access and replace defective parts, inspect components for wear, and confirm dimensional specifications
  • Adjust, repair, or replace mechanical and control parts to restore optimal equipment performance and minimize line downtime
  • Install and set up structural and functional components, lubricate and clean parts, and test to verify repairs
  • Operate metalworking and fabrication tools (drill presses, grinders) to build or repair parts as needed
  • Monitor equipment during production runs, troubleshoot malfunctions, and perform emergency repairs to protect food safety and quality
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized work environment consistent with GMP standards, and accurately document maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs performed
  • Assist with installation, setup, and calibration of new or existing systems and equipment
  • Perform routine inspections, adjustments, and calibrations to keep machinery running within specifications
