The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for completing daily assigned jobs, making tactical decisions based on situational conflicts and machine priorities, and understanding plant priorities. This role requires effective communication with the production floor via radio and understanding that the maintenance team's primary function is to support the production team to meet external customer needs. The mechanic will manage Preventative Maintenance (PMs) and parts for assigned lines, track machine performance to increase productivity, and ensure PMs are accurately completed and entered into the computer system, including the FMS logbook. They will create work orders for outstanding tasks, review and close out open work orders in a timely manner, and update them with part and requisition numbers, working closely with the purchasing team. Scheduling of major PMs (annual, quarterly) and performing weekly PM Audits are also key responsibilities. The role involves administering the MRO program, organizing the stock room, and developing a "Critical/Consumable" parts audit for their lines. Maintaining cleanliness of machinery, equipment, and shop areas, and leading 5 "S" projects are essential. Participation in SMED events, updating changeover sheets, and following changeover guidelines are expected. The mechanic will also participate in specialty team meetings, focus on continuous improvement, and act as a point of contact for aftermarket vendors. They will assist the injection/blow team with changeovers and PMs to minimize downtime and participate in and conduct training for operators and technicians, creating BIC Work Instructions. The role requires ensuring machines and equipment are running efficiently before leaving work and communicating any issues. Safety is paramount, including completing monthly CBTs, red/green cards, proactive safety activities, and ensuring team members meet their safety obligations. A focus on quality preforms and containers, working with process technicians to uphold Amcor’s quality standards, and abiding by GMP policies are also required. The role may involve other duties as directed by management.
