About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative/predictive maintenance, repairs and improvements on industrial equipment in an automated food processing facility while keeping a high regard for employee safety, food quality and machine efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business items
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtract, multiply, dividing.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to comprehend basic oral and written communication.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree and three years or more of related experience and/or training in a production/manufacturing environment is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
  • Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
  • Identifies problems and isolates faulty components with rapid understanding of the distribution of Input and Output as well as the location of field devices driven by such.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be open to work off shifts and a rotating 4x10 schedule
