About The Position

ILS Farms operates across Central Kansas, producing key crops to support its feedyards and grazing programs. With a focus on efficiency and sustainability, we leverage advanced technology and resources to drive innovation in agriculture. As we continue to grow, we seek an experienced mechanic to help with efficiency in our daily operations. Job Summary: Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and performing preventative maintenance on vehicles, heavy equipment, and power sources. Maintains maintenance records, inventory control of tools and supplies, and ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of vehicle and equipment repair methods, materials, tools, and maintenance techniques.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, computerized systems, and ignition systems.
  • Skilled in the use of diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions and maintenance documentation.
  • Good attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and priorities.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three month’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with heavy equipment and fleet maintenance.
  • Preventative maintenance experience.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  • Rebuild and maintain engines, systems, and related components.
  • Perform preventative and routine maintenance on vehicles, heavy equipment, and irrigation system power sources.
  • Maintain maintenance records, schedules, and daily inspection reports.
  • Audit maintenance records for rolling stock including feed trucks, pickups, and heavy equipment.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot electrical, ignition, and computerized systems.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain inventory control of supplies, tools, fuel, oil, and parts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop area.
  • Follow OSHA safety procedures, company policies, and workplace regulations.
  • Provide support to team members and maintain a professional, positive attitude.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
