About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic serves as a versatile, hands-on service professional who provides essential support to the Facility Manager while managing day-to-day repairs across various retail properties in Manhattan, NY. This role encompasses a wide range of maintenance activities including carpentry, plumbing, painting, lighting, and general building systems, ensuring properties maintain optimal conditions for client occupancy and operations across assigned portfolios.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, painting, basic plumbing, and basic electrical
  • Valid state driver's license (must possess and maintain)
  • Strong background in carpentry, general building repair, maintenance, and plumbing
  • Ability to work and act independently, make solid decisions in the field, and resolve basic problems autonomously
  • Mechanically skilled and capable of operating hand and power tools
  • Good communication skills and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work from heights
  • Capability to climb ladders up to 30 feet with a 300 lb weight limit while carrying approximately 20 lbs of tools
  • Comfort working in adverse conditions (extreme cold, extreme heat)
  • Ability to frequently climb, bend, lift, kneel, stoop, and work/extend overhead
  • Willingness to drive for long periods of time
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Performing ongoing preventive maintenance and responding to repair work orders for facility requests including carpentry, plumbing, and other installed systems and equipment
  • Conducting assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on site conditions that impact client occupancy and operations
  • Completing general interior maintenance tasks such as hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, repairing minor office furniture, and fixing doors
  • Replacing lighting fixtures and ballasts throughout assigned properties
  • Updating work order status in real time daily and utilizing CMMS systems such as Prism for all work performed
  • Submitting expense receipts, performing vehicle safety inspections, and escalating problems to customers and managers in a timely manner
  • Completing all required safety trainings, hazard assessments, and complying with all safety procedures while maintaining good housekeeping in work areas
  • Supporting after-hours emergencies and building-related activities as required, remaining available for emergency call-in work
  • Navigating applications through iPad, responding to emails, and attending work and safety meetings as required
