About The Position

Works under general supervision to perform various repair and maintenance work and perform other generalized duties in the operations of county facilities.

Requirements

Two (2) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic
High school diploma or possess a GED.
Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one by date of employment.
Must have daily access to a personal operable automobile and meet county requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
Must pass a physical examination.
Advanced knowledge of common practices; methods; and materials for maintenance of buildings and construction work.
Ability to work with people.
Ability to complete reports and requisitions.
Knowledge of wood and metal tools and instruments and their maintenance and use.
Knowledge of the practices; methods, tools, and materials required for the maintenance of mechanical equipment.
Knowledge of plumbing and ability to clean clogged drains and shut off water supply using plumber tools.
Ability to read and work with blueprints.

Responsibilities

Performs various general maintenance and/or mechanical duties as they relate to the specific position.
Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures.
Paints walls, floors, woodwork, and fixtures of buildings using spray guns and brushes.
Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and open clogged drains using plumber's tools.
Replaces and repairs brick and plaster walls.
Keeps records and makes reports.
Makes minor plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
Makes or repairs counters; benches; partitions; etc. using appropriate tools.
Assists higher skilled maintenance personnel.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
