About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic works at ROCKWOOL’s manufacturing facility in Byhalia, Mississippi, keeping stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment operating safely and reliably. The role supports consistent production and equipment reliability by resolving issues quickly and reducing downtime. The mechanic works with the Maintenance Electrician, contractors, and teams across departments to coordinate efficient plant operations. The schedule is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule, with compensation of $32 per hour. ROCKWOOL describes its maintenance team as safety-first and dedicated to operational excellence. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience maintaining mechanical equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Welding and burning skills, including MIG welding at a minimum.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment in an industrial setting.
Ability to use a computer and communicate clearly in English with teams across departments.

Responsibilities

Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, including pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces, and generators.
Inspect machinery and equipment, identify irregularities or malfunctions, and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Install, maintain, and repair power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts, including fabricating parts with lathes and grinders when needed.
Operate cranes, jacks, tractors, and other lifting devices to position machinery and parts during installation, setup, and repair work.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Electrician and contractors as needed, and communicate across departments to coordinate operations.
