About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic III will perform complex maintenance and troubleshooting on production or warehouse machinery with in-depth knowledge of a trade or understanding of multiple trades performing under occasional guidance. In this role, you will utilize maintenance and reliability practices to complete preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance to ensure assets are maintained to ensure effectiveness of the facility. This position is in our Food Enterprise where we are committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. Our portfolio includes poultry, beef, egg, alternative protein, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa and chocolate.

Requirements

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English(verbal/written)
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Basic use of a computer
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
  • At least 1 year of experience in mechanical maintenance
  • Must be able to perform maintenance trades including mechanical maintenance

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a Millwright certification
  • Forklift certified
  • Experience in computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word.
  • Working knowledge of inventory systems
  • Able to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.
  • Able to perform maintenance trades including electrical, machinist, welding, pipe fitting and fabrication, rigging systems, gearbox and bearing, lubrication, pumps and piping systems.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize maintenance and reliability practices with little to no guidance to ensure all assets are maintained in safe condition while continuing to ensure the life of the equipment being used.
  • Independently complete preventative, predictive and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Apply knowledge and ability to operate two or more standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools and preventative maintenance technology tools.
  • Apply an in-depth understanding and experience of two or more maintenance trades and components (i.e. electrical, welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
  • Modify equipment by reading either electrical or mechanical schematics, blueprints and operation manuals.
  • Document completed work and the conditions found utilizing maintenance computer software interact regularly with peers and provide feedback to management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations.
