About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks, completed in a safe and professional manner. The role requires taking extra precautions when working in patient care areas, ensuring tools are kept out of the reach of children. The mechanic must be able to accurately explain conditions and situations during troubleshooting, always prioritizing safety, departmental morale, and efficiency. Compliance with all corporate and facility policies and dress codes is mandatory. The position requires the ability to understand written and verbal communications, possess good written and oral communication skills, and work independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances is essential. Depending on the facility size, additional duties may include installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment. It may also involve maintaining campus grounds, performing other outside maintenance duties, and general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance. On-call duties may be required as needed or directed by the department.

Requirements

  • Possess basic mechanical knowledge.
  • Show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges.
  • Ability to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting.
  • Ability to function with safety, moral, and efficiency of the department in mind.
  • Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
  • Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
  • Understand written and verbal communications.
  • Good written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
  • Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school or vocational school.
  • Minimum of two years experience in building systems.
