Maintenance Mechanic - Center City - Full Time
About The Position
Makes periodic inspections of and maintains all equipment associated with supplying safety lighting, plumbing, heating and ventilation, air conditioning, control systems and any other system for which responsible. This role involves making checks of all mechanical area equipment and logging them, handling maintenance calls from the main office, and maintaining required records. The position also includes combined responsibilities of testing and running emergency generators along with electricians, and performing other related duties as assigned. Specific tasks include maintaining and repairing distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems, and air compressors, as well as pneumatic equipment in engine rooms like hot water converters, thermostats, induction units, and sump pumps. Minor electrical work such as disconnecting motor leads, resetting breakers, and replacing lights is also part of the role. The job entails changing air filters in large air handling equipment, cleaning and painting mechanical areas, performing minor plumbing repairs on fixtures, clearing stoppages, and stopping leaks. Additionally, it involves condenser cleaning on chillers, cleaning and maintenance on water towers, and cleaning air handling unit coils. The role requires interaction with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
Requirements
- High School or GED required.
- Three (3) years of experience (without technical school)
- Four (4) years of experience (with technical school)

Responsibilities

- Maintain and repair distribution systems involving vacuum, medical air, medical gas systems and air compressors
- Maintain and repair pneumatic equipment located in engine rooms, such as hot water convertor, thermostats, induction units, sump pumps and all piping pertaining to the function of this equipment
- Minor electrical work, such as disconnecting leads on motors, resetting breakers, replacing lights and etc.
- Changing of air filters in all large air handling equipment along with cleaning and painting in mechanical areas.
- Minor plumbing repairs: repair of an existing plumbing fixture which includes valves, washers, “O” rings, etc., clearance of stoppages, stoppage of leaks.
- Condenser cleaning on chillers, and cleaning and maintenance on water towers.
- Cleaning of air handling unit coils
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
