Maintenance Mechanic
About The Position
Performs general maintenance and specialized maintenance required by a specific trade discipline. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to residents, employees, and vendors, interacting positively and respectfully with residents while performing duties. The position requires experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, and painting. The mechanic must be able to plan and prioritize work, collaborate with others, maintain an orderly and safe work area, and understand universal precautions for safety and chemicals. Responsibilities also include working with blueprints, assisting with snow removal, covering the on-call schedule, and performing other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Experience and job knowledge in all areas of building maintenance, i.e., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall and painting.
- High School or equivalent.
- Vocational technical graduate
- At least two years in a trade or four years of building maintenance
- Valid State of Connecticut driver's license
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents, employees and vendors at all times.
- Interact with residents in a positive, respectful and reassuring manner, while performing required duties.
- Plan and prioritize assigned work to meet the needs of the department.
- Work both independently, and with others within the Maintenance department, and with other departments.
- Keep work area orderly, clean and safe. Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Understand and follow universal precautions for personal safety and chemicals as it pertains to the Department.
- Work with/from blueprints and drawings.
- Assist in the snow removal process.
- Help cover the on-call schedule.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager Facilities
