About The Position

This is an IBEW Union Position with an Hourly Rate of $36.42. NASA enforces REAL ID requirements for all visitors and badge holders. The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. This position reports directly to the MASR supervisor (Mech, Rigg, CMEC, Millwright shop). All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Six years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training in a designated field, craft, or trade that can be documented by a certificate or diploma from a reputable organization, school, or trade program.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate well with others.
  • CMOE Maintenance employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed.
  • Your SPA is a Company provided resource to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries: as such, it is the most important resource you are required to use.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required for this specific position.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring your personal safety, the safety of coworkers and customers is an obligation and primary duty.
  • Supports the Maintenance Services Group repairing machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, examination of machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose anomalies
  • Dismantling machines, as required to diagnose and repair, or adjust, will involve the use of hand tools
  • Preparing written specifications for major repairs, repair parts, or for production of required items
  • Acquisition of replacement parts from OEM, or OEM approved entity, or manufacturer in machine shop to which specifications have been provided
  • Reassembling machines and adjusting as required to ensure proper operation
  • Mechanical requirements at LaRC largely involve reciprocating and centrifugal pumps and compressors
