About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative, maintenance, and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.). This role is responsible for identifying root causes of breakdowns, performing efficient repairs to minimize downtime, and documenting all work performed. The mechanic will also be involved in ordering replacement parts, coordinating maintenance schedules, and collaborating with other departments on new product introductions and machinery modifications. Additionally, the role involves identifying and implementing process improvements and adhering to all safety requirements to promote a zero-accident culture.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems with manufacturing equipment.
  • Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects, planning skills, and a high attention to detail.
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.).
  • Multi-lingual strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts.
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines and repair quickly and efficiently.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products and required modifications.
  • Make necessary modifications and implement test runs, conferring with product managers regarding test results and making additional alterations to machinery.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead, or participate in solution implementation.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas where mandatory.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
