About The Position

Maintenance team members are responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, installations, equipment repairs, and building necessary support systems. This position requires a significant amount of collaboration and communication with other teams and individuals outside of the maintenance department. The facility can become cold in the winter and quite warm in the summer months – so it’s important to be comfortable in those conditions. Maintenance Mechanics are accountable for maintaining the department’s annual budget, ongoing PO processing, and vendor approval. They work with other divisions as necessary to ensure full maintenance training and support throughout the company. They are accountable for all OSHA-required safety training and administration within the department. They work on job duties and assignments as they relate to maintenance, repair, installing, fabricating, adjusting, troubleshooting, and any other maintenance duties as needed. They diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties. They perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations. They coordinate start-up and shutdown functions on plant equipment and facilities with Maintenance Technicians. They respond to emergency calls as needed and work consistently to resolve cited safety issues promptly. They work safely at all times in compliance with OSHA safety and EPA regulations. They adhere to all Quality System procedures and work instructions. They maintain strong relationships with employees including continuous communication and performance feedback to recognize contributions and address performance gaps. They promote communication and teamwork with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and good housekeeping throughout the plant. They work in conjunction with Human Resources on all personnel issues including performance management and necessary disciplinary actions defined in the Pioneer Metal Finishing handbook. They represent the company professionally when always interacting with customers and vendors. They identify opportunities for improvement and potential solutions to close the gap. They engage team members in implementing process improvements. They perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with heights (use of scissors lift is frequent), electrical equipment (rectifier work needed), and chemicals (repairs to chemical vats is frequent).
  • Must be comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and taking input from subject matter experts.
  • Requires broad-based knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing, HVAC.
  • Minimum of two years of work-related experience.
  • Blueprint and schematic knowledge required.
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely, creative manner.
  • Must maintain a “Hands-on” style, willing and capable of taking a lead role in technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Keen eye for detail to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Strong team player and ability to influence positive outcomes.
  • Encouraging collaboration and fostering a positive team dynamic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees, vendors, and customers at all levels.
  • Must be able to wear respiratory protection when required.
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of an associate degree in Electro-Mechanical or another related Mechanical field is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Preferred experience with PLC (Programming Logic Controller) required.
  • Preferred experience with VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • ISO certification experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other departments and individuals to investigate and solve maintenance related problems throughout all areas of the facility.
  • Ensure vendor issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
  • Assists in maintaining department documentation, inventory, preventative maintenance schedules, and project log.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations.
