About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic has primary responsibility for maintaining production and quality by ensuring the operation of all Westfield's egg grading and material handling equipment. This role requires someone who adjusts well to new situations and changes, shows perseverance and resilience, makes decisions based on experience and insight, finds innovative solutions to challenges, and works proactively without supervision. Requirements

  • Experience in equipment maintenance and mechanical repair.
  • Complete support of and willing adherence to Westfield Egg Farm’s mission, vision and core values. Applicant must hold these standards as his/her own.
  • Proficient ability to read and write in English and an ability interpret documents such as maintenance instructions and standard operating procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Frequent standing and movement throughout the facility, with occasional walking, climbing stairs or ladders, reaching, handling objects, and communicating.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Close, distance, and color vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain egg grading equipment, power jacks, and production printers per manuals and specifications.
  • Identify mechanical issues through observation, sound analysis, and precision testing.
  • Manage equipment and parts inventory, order supplies, and verify deliveries.
  • Minimize downtime by training production workers on routine maintenance.
  • Dismantle equipment to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Calibrate machine timing and gear ratios for optimal performance.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems for safety and efficiency.
  • Inspect and adjust parts to meet dimensional requirements.
  • Modify and fine-tune equipment components and control instruments.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine tools and welding equipment.
  • Ensure a safe, clean work environment by following regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
