About The Position

As a team member, the Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs high-volume food manufacturing equipment. They prioritize personnel and food safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in a maintenance environment. (Food industry is highly preferred).
  • Internal candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of service with FGF in any role or department to be eligible to apply for this position.
  • Relevant education or training in a related field (e.g. mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance) is required.
  • Must have strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have a basic understanding of AC/DC motors, motor control circuits, and photoeyes / sensors, etc.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Familiarity with CMMS work order systems.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Should be able to understand blueprints and drawings.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work at heights from ladders or scissor lifts.
  • Must be able to make decisions.
  • Must be able to work around very strong magnets.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of conveyance a strong plus.
  • Food manufacturing background a plus with an understanding of FDA requirements.
  • Should have a working knowledge of the following: Welding, Machining, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Electricity.

Responsibilities

  • Respond and react to mechanical issues in the production environment in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Complete maintenance projects - PM tasks and work orders as assigned.
  • Read electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Write parts requests, complete work orders, and write corrective work orders.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Keep a clean work area.
  • Perform building inspections and routines.
  • Communicate with other team members.
  • Perform Lock-Out-Tag-Out when necessary.
  • Perform all maintenance on plant equipment in a safe manner, ensure equipment and machines are in good working condition while following GMP.
  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve, and troubleshoot various types of machinery, equipment, and facilities in the processing & packaging departments.
  • Diagnose problems, provide quick & innovative solutions for equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, basic welding, metal fabrication, machining, troubleshooting, and analytical problem solving.
  • Perform both corrective and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment.
  • Provide recommendations for continual improvements and maximize efficiencies.
  • Setup, takedown, and relocation of Bakery and Packaging equipment.
  • Fill out shift report electronically for specific issues or tasks completed during shift.
  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing the shop and toolbox.
  • Must work autonomously in response to emergency maintenance requests and in completing work orders.
  • Loads and unloads equipment and tools onto vehicles when needed.
  • Utilize CMMS system and tablets to receive, generate and complete daily assigned Work Orders.
  • Written and oral communication of daily pass-down activities to other technicians and Team Lead.
