About The Position

Pacific Coast Producers, a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a talented and experienced Maintenance Mechanic M1 and/or M2 to join our team at our Production Facility in Salem, OR. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of a millwright or industrial maintenance apprenticeship strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of maintenance and millwright experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing forklifts and material-handling equipment.
  • Certification or demonstrated ability to safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other vehicles.
  • Strong background with boilers, steam systems, blowers, air compressors, wastewater systems, and facilities upkeep.
  • Advanced skills in mechanical repair, precision alignment, rigging, and fabrication.
  • Proficiency in welding (MIG, TIG, stick), cutting, and machining.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, pumps, gearboxes, and power transmission systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting (motors, VFDs, sensors, PLC-controlled equipment).
  • Experience with stainless steel fabrication and food-grade materials.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, GMP, boiler codes, forklift safety, and food safety compliance.
  • Physical ability to lift 100 lbs. and work in varied environments (wet, humid, hot, cold).

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair production machinery, conveyors, pumps, process piping, mixers, boilers, compressors, blowers, wastewater systems, and facility infrastructure.
  • Perform precision alignment, leveling, and balancing of equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair boilers, steam systems, compressed air systems, blowers, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Perform forklift and material-handling equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting (engines, hydraulics, electrical, and safety systems).
  • Safely drive and operate forklifts, aerial equipment, and other vehicles required to complete maintenance or facilities work.
  • Carry out general facilities maintenance and upkeep, including HVAC, lighting, doors, and building systems.
  • Fabricate, weld, and machine components for equipment repair, modification, or installation.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment for major overhauls and rebuilds.
  • Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings to support installation and troubleshooting.
  • Support production changeovers, sanitation schedules, and setups in line with GMP and HACCP requirements.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new process, utility, and facility systems.
  • Use CMMS to log work orders, inspections, and maintenance history.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in technical skills and safe work practices.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, boiler safety, confined space, hot work, forklift operation, aerial lift safety, and OSHA requirements.
