About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic - Night Shift is responsible for supporting equipment uptime, reliability, and safe plant operations by completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing equipment issues, and addressing facility maintenance needs during the assigned shift. This role works closely with shift supervisors, leads, the Maintenance Superintendent, and the Plant Manager to support production throughput, timely maintenance execution, and consistent communication between shifts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and follow maintenance instructions, equipment manuals, safety procedures, and written work orders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, leads, operators, and maintenance leadership during shift handoffs and equipment downtime events.
  • Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work independently during night shift operations with appropriate judgment and escalation.

Nice To Haves

  • technical school, maintenance certification, or related vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of mechanical maintenance, industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or similar hands-on repair experience preferred.
  • Experience completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and repairing mechanical systems in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, or plant environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of work orders, maintenance documentation, safe lockout/tagout practices, and equipment safety requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and document work completed in accordance with established maintenance processes.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, equipment, and facility maintenance issues to support production uptime and throughput.
  • Respond to maintenance priorities during the shift, including equipment downtime, emergency work orders, material shortages, absenteeism-related coverage needs, and changing production conditions.
  • Coordinate with shift supervisors and leads to ensure effective maintenance handoffs, clear communication, and consistent maintenance standards between shifts.
  • Initiate work orders and coordinate repair timing with the Maintenance Superintendent, shift supervisors, and leads.
  • Provide timely feedback to shift supervisors, leads, and maintenance leadership regarding technical issues, recurring equipment concerns, and repair status.
  • Escalate critical equipment or facility concerns to the Maintenance Superintendent and Plant Manager, including exercising stop-work authority and removing equipment from service when safety is at risk.
  • Reinforce plant safety policies and procedures, use required PPE, and lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Report incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain tools, work areas, and maintenance materials in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and business needs.
