About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Plant Manager and troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on equipment throughout the mill operation. The role helps minimize downtime by identifying potential mechanical and electrical problems. The position is regular, full-time, hourly and non-exempt, located in Kingsburg, California, and works the night shift. The stated salary range is $22.00 to $26.00 per hour.

The work includes responding to equipment problems, carrying out maintenance and repairs, and working with mechanical and electrical systems and related equipment. Duties may include other related work and special projects assigned by management. Work is performed primarily in an outdoor environment with exposure to noise and machinery; some duties take place in a temperature-controlled office. The position may require work outside regular hours, including weekends and holidays, and occasional travel to other company locations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of maintenance experience in feed mill maintenance, industrial, or production environments.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and respond to emergency conditions.
• Knowledge of fabrication, electrical schematics, engineering drawings, power transmission, pneumatics, welding, and cutting.
• Light industrial electrical skills; knowledge of hydraulics, power transmissions, and pneumatics.
• Basic computer knowledge and experience with MS Office, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Skills related to welding, fabrication, plumbing, electrical systems, automotive equipment, forklifts, packaging equipment, pumps, compressors, instrumentation and electronics, machining, PLCs, equipment rebuilding, pneumatics and hydraulics, general building repairs, and MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders and follow instructions.
• Ability to maintain high quality-control standards, problem-solve, supervise, and troubleshoot effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all organizational levels, with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize successfully.
• Ability to evaluate employees fairly and objectively.
• Ability to work safely at elevated heights up to 200 feet and in confined spaces.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and occasionally lift up to 55 pounds.
• Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including frequent reading, concentration, decision-making, hearing, and talking.
