We also support employees in obtaining and maintaining industry certifications. Woodard & Curran is expanding and seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a water utility system. This role involves routine, preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks within a water and wastewater utility that includes one water plant, one wastewater plant, a collection system with sixty-four lift stations, a distribution system, and meters. We are looking for a dedicated individual to help maintain our high standards for providing safe, clean water to the community. Requirements

  • High School or trade school diploma required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office programs, computerized maintenance programs, and computerized databases including SCADA.
  • Experience with the maintenance of pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Working knowledge of methods, tools, and materials used in the development, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment for wastewater treatment and collection systems.
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Knowledge in the principal operation of programmable logic controllers and industrial electronics.
  • Ability to perform varied mechanical skills, including gas and/or arc welding.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and update technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to keep accurate records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electromechanical control systems.
  • Ability to calibrate process control instrumentation.
  • Ability to install electrical conduit and plumbing.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure with competing demands.
  • Thorough knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in wastewater treatment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates must complete a background check, pre-placement physical, and drug screen before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Courses in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance assignments for a water and wastewater treatment facility and sewer collection systems.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the maintenance department and on maintenance vehicles.
  • Conduct all work in a safe and professional manner, adhering to established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
  • Ensure all work meets project goals and objectives.
  • Operate plant collection and distribution equipment, including aerators, filters, pumps, lift stations, aeration basins, anoxic basins, instrumentation, motors, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, blowers, mixers, generators, lighting, chlorinators, rake drives, bar screens, storage tanks, meters, air compressors, sludge dewatering equipment, and other related plant components.
  • Maintain and adjust equipment to optimize treatment results and comply with the plant operating permit.
  • Perform daily checks of the facility to document operational status and maintenance requirements.
