About The Position

Maintains, adjusts and repairs plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies including but not limited to USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government, independent auditors chosen by the company and the company’s own stated quality standards. Performs the above tasks in accordance with a journeyman’s skill level.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Certificate from a college or technical trade school in Industrial Fabrication, Industrial Electrical, Machining or Millwright Program and at least five years of applicable industrial work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in packing machines/production machines
  • Troubleshooting experience, problem solving skills, maintenance of electrical, mechanical, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Ability to properly use hand tools, shop tools and test equipment
  • Ability to multi-task while prioritizing emergency equipment issues
  • Perform breakdown, corrective and preventative maintenance on production equipment
  • Experience in metal working and fabrication experience
  • Construct, maintain, and repair systems and equipment as needed throughout facility
  • Maintain install, repair, alter or troubleshoot mechanical systems found within the facility
  • Experience with troubleshooting controls systems.
  • Must be able to lift and handle 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed to include evenings and weekends
  • Must have general knowledge of computerized preventative maintenance system.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others.
  • Will fill in for maintenance supervisors when required.
  • Training on Good Manufacturing Practices critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency.
  • Training on how to identify food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation and cleanliness of the lines, etc., critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality and process efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service of all equipment for the slicing, assembling, packaging, washing, conveying and shipping of frozen food
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines
  • Work with engineering and production to learn, repair or modify equipment design
  • Actively participate on facility projects to support efforts in facility improvements or upgrades
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules
  • Must fully understand and use all company Lock out Tag Out Procedures
  • May be required to assigns PM and Work Orders to the RTE crew and audit the completed work that was assigned.
  • Will be required to teach and train new mechanics on all RTE equipment.
  • Will take and pass all required leadership training for the facility
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed by the maintenance management team
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
