About The Position

This position offers an opportunity to join an experienced team in the tree care industry. The role involves performing routine maintenance on various vehicles and heavy equipment, as well as serving as the primary parts driver for the greater Bay Area. The position is structured to provide training and increase responsibilities as the employee masters tasks and vehicle types. The ideal candidate will have a long-term career goal of becoming a full-time mechanic with the company.

Requirements

  • Clean driving history with no moving violations, accidents, or points for the past five years.
  • Current and clean CA Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of seven years on the road.
  • Currently living within a 40-minute commute of Richmond, CA.
  • Long-term career goal to serve as a full-time mechanic for the company.
  • One or more years of hands-on experience, or a combination of high school training or trade school and hands-on experience, or several years of working on personal/family/friends' cars.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Physically able to lift at least 30 pounds regularly to load/unload and deliver parts.
  • Physically able to climb under and onto large vehicles and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Several years’ experience working as a lube technician, junior mechanic, driver, or anything related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Computer savvy, able to enter part numbers and inventory information into a database.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary parts driver, driving a company vehicle throughout the greater Bay Area to pick up and deliver parts, special orders, and other necessary items for the Fleet team.
  • Deliver and pick up vehicles that require service.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnoses, and repairs on autos, light trucks, large trucks, and various equipment related to the tree care industry.
  • Check and change car fluids, filters, windshield wipers, and other parts as needed.
  • Check tire pressure and change brake pads, rotors, sensors, etc.
  • Perform standard inspections and tests.
  • Update the Tatem’s database online to meet compliance and regulations standards, and enter inventory information.
  • Clean and organize work areas when not driving or working on mechanical projects.
  • Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues once trained.
  • Make suggestions to increase team efficiency and/or save money.
  • Undertake other projects as time allows.
