About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor. The mechanic is primarily responsible for ensuring that production equipment is at maximum uptime and in good repair. Troubleshooting skills and a strong mechanical aptitude are essential for success. Maintenance Level IV mechanics must be able to demonstrate journey level mechanical skills.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated and verifiable journey level maintenance skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to work from Ladder Diagrams
  • Five (5) years industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to Pass a RETA CARO (Certified Ammonia Refrigeration Operator) certification test.

Nice To Haves

  • Post high school education in industrial maintenance, electronics and hydraulics on PLC is a major plus.
  • Post high school education in maintenance related courses is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operational and mechanical hands–on day to day and periodic Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) of: Ammonia compressors, vessels, piping, SRV’s and all related devices using Ammonia refrigeration.
  • Production and office HVAC systems
  • Steam boilers, vessels, piping, and valves.
  • High pressure air compressors and air driers
  • Condensers / cooling towers/ Air handler
  • Glycol system
  • High voltage power distribution switch gear
  • Wastewater distribution system, lift systems, valve, and piping.
  • Water softener system, valve piping and controls
  • Well water maintenance systems pump controls and vessels.
  • Diesel fire pump and fire hydrant distribution system and controls
  • Outdoor building and parking area lighting and parking and drive surface maintenance.
  • Achieves a RETA membership and completes RETA basic ammonia training including a CARO NH3 certification.
  • Maintain test and troubleshoot citrus juice, oil and production equipment to include: pumps, motors, separators, evaporators, conveyers, elevators and ultra – filtration systems.
  • Maintain,test and troubleshoot plant utility and power systems to include but not limited to:hydraulic systems,boilers,heat exchangers,air compressors,dryers,pumps,seals, shafts, separators,finishers,gear boxes,speed reducers,augurs,conveyor belts,CIP systems,ammonia systems, piping,lubrication,MIG/TIG/ARC/ high pressure and sanitary welding
  • Fabricate parts and production piping equipment as required.
  • Provide repair work on electrical motors,control systems and variable frequency drives.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on equipment per the P.M. schedule: SRO’s for prescheduled preventative maintenance work will be issued to mechanics at the start of their shift. The SRO will contain a description of the work to be performed. The mechanic will record the following information-1.record parts used.2. provide a brief description of the steps taken to complete the work order.3.put down name and signature.4.provide lablor minutes or hours takento complete the task.
  • Unscheduled Maintenance work: Mechanics are required to submit written SRO’s for unscheduled work as follows- record the 1.unit identification.2.provide a brief description of repair.3.identify SRO type as either pm, safety,enhancement or service. 4.reason for the repair.5.parts used for the repair.6print name and add signature. 7. Quantitfy labor minutes/hours to complete the task. Enter SRO’s electronically when directed by the manager.Maintain list of parts used on all annual overhauls bu unit identification on data collection sheet. Mechanic must identifyequipment machine number on the SRO.
  • Perform maintenance functions on work involving electronic troubleshooting
  • Alert Maintenance Manager to any non-standard condition or parts requirements.
  • Submit written pass down logs daily
  • Follow all safety rules and practices to include wearing of all personal protective equipment.
  • Follow all personal hygiene and food safety practices.
  • Assist general contractors as directed with the installation of new or modified equipment.
  • Act professionally toward customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant.
  • Follow any other instructions of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required.
