Maintenance Mechanic Journeyworker
About The Position
This position will provide mechanical maintenance support for the site. Position will perform welding, steel fabrication, pipe fitting, millwright, rigging, pump rebuilding and other general mechanical troubleshooting tasks. Position is responsible for individual safety as well as the safety of others working in the area Adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) policies and procedures. Responsible for the completion of Hot Work, Line Break, Lock, Tag & Try, contractor work permits and other SH&E permits. Maintain a questioning attitude to ensure a safe work environment. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions. Complete necessary forms, charts, etc. to document the process. Respond appropriately to process variations. Ability to safely work with hazardous materials. Daily inspection of equipment. Troubleshoot equipment as needed and perform preventative maintenance. Ability to work in a team environment and move to where the work is required. Train co-workers on job tasks as required. Perform housekeeping and 5S. Operate forklift and other motorized transportation equipment as necessary. Communicate the status of the operation to the shift following. Report to work station on time in order to receive operation status from previous shift. Participate in safety efforts (VPP, JHAs, etc.) and CIP teams.
Requirements
- Ability to read and follow SOPs and work instructions and work safely
- Initiative
- Memory of written directions
- Following precise standards
- Welding, steel fabrication, pipe fitting, millwright, rigging, and pump rebuilding
- Knowledge of vacuum systems, vacuum leak detection, and vacuum pump rebuilding
- Knowledge of computers, PLC operations, ability to read work instructions and P&ID's
- Previous manufacturing experience in a chemical plant preferred
- Maintenance Journeyman certification or the ability to show a strong mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to attend schooling off-site as the job requires
- Proficiency in basic PC navigation and PLC operations
