About The Position
The Piedmont Research Station is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic IV to perform work involving multiple highly skilled trade specialties in the service, maintenance, and repair of equipment, buildings, and infrastructure associated with agriculture research projects conducted at the station. This position will also provide labor support to the Crops Unit.
Requirements
- Knowledge of highly skilled trade specialties in the service, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and farm equipment
- Knowledge of highly skilled trade specialties in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, and fabrications
- Knowledge of agricultural crop production
- Ability to operate and use basic tools and farm equipment
- Ability to identify and solve technical problems related to maintenance and repairs of equipment
- Must possess or qualify for certification within twelve months of employment: Forklift driver’s certificate, Respirator qualified
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
