About The Position

St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, affiliated with Catholic Health Services of Long Island, is located in Smithtown, NY on a beautiful 110-acre campus that includes a 290-bed community hospital, a 240-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility, and a 60,000 sq. ft. medical office building. SCS is engaged with error reduction initiatives and on a journey to High Reliability. We have been recognized in superior care in stroke and sepsis patients and have also recently attained Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery and have also been designated as the only Baby Friendly hospital in Suffolk County. The Maintenance Mechanic III Performs a wide variety of functions related to plumbing, heating, medical gases operation, maintenance and repair of hospital moveable equipment, and other building maintenance as required.

Requirements

High school diploma, equivalent or relative experience
Successful graduation from an accredited trade school with courses in: mechanics, electricity, general maintenance, HVAC.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the building trades
Must be able to work independently
Position is strenuous and requires standing on feet for long periods
Must be able to lift heavy equipment when necessary or work in precarious locations
Clean valid NYS driver’s license

Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of functions related to plumbing, heating, medical gases operation, maintenance and repair of hospital moveable equipment, and other building maintenance as required.
Handles routine maintenance issues without direct supervision.
Performs work as directed by supervisor.
