This position is responsible for maintaining a good working knowledge of the facility and its components. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical malfunctions, installing, replacing, or repairing damaged equipment, and calibrating thermostatic controls. The Maintenance Mechanic III will also repair and replace parts and equipment for heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems, and test electrical systems for compatibility and safety. A key responsibility is monitoring, adjusting, and documenting air flows in hospital spaces. The role requires advanced knowledge and ability in general maintenance, including preventative and routine maintenance tasks such as servicing equipment, hanging pictures, changing light bulbs, and making repairs. The mechanic will also diagnose and repair various types of equipment, including medical equipment like wheelchairs, beds, and stretchers. Rapid response to emergency situations, including call-ins, HVAC alarms, snow removal, and sewer backups, is essential. The position also involves ensuring proper care of tools and equipment, utilizing facility computer systems for maintenance history retrieval, and performing other related duties to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
