About The Position

Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and HVAC/air conditioning systems such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, refrigeration units, ventilation systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, HVAC systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. Observes mechanical devices and HVAC equipment in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring instruments. Diagnoses and repairs all types of electrical systems including electric motors, photo-eyes, sensors, HVAC controls, thermostats, and wiring systems up to 480V. Performs troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration systems. Inspects HVAC systems and components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, belts, filters, ducts, and refrigerant lines to ensure proper operation and efficiency. Repairs or replaces defective HVAC components including motors, fans, relays, thermostats, contactors, and refrigerant system parts. Monitors refrigerant levels, checks for leaks, and performs refrigerant recovery and recharging in compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Lubricates and cleans parts. Starts devices and HVAC equipment to test their performance. Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Documents all work completed on work orders per established procedures. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and environmental requirements related to HVAC and refrigerant handling. With some supervision: Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes. Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control devices. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices and HVAC systems.

Requirements

  • One to three years maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic functions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions.
  • Problem-solving skills are essential to this position.
  • 18 Years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
  • Conversational Spanish is highly desired but not required.
